Five Agencies Receive Their French Language Services
Designation Certificate
OTTAWA–Today, five non-profit Ottawa community groups that serve their clients in French received their official certificate of designation under the French Language Services Act from Francophone Affairs Minister Madeleine Meilleur.
"A designation requires time and effort and attests to the desire of community organizations to ensure a better quality of life for Francophone Ontarians", said Meilleur.
The five Ottawa-based agencies that received their official certificate today are:
- Canadian Mothercraft of Ottawa-Carleton
- Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre
- Pinecrest-Queensway Health and Community Services
- City View Centre for Child and Family Services
- Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre
These agencies provide health care and support services for children, youth and women who are victims of violence. Three other agencies (in Sudbury and Lively) were also designated in July.
The designation process assists the government in ensuring that Francophones have access to government services in French in designated areas of the province. To date, the government has designated 209 public service agencies under the French Language Services Act.
