Promoting French Language Services

The McGuinty Government Supports The Assemblée de la francophonie de l'Ontario

NEWS
June 6, 2008

The Assemblée de la francophonie de l'Ontario (AFO) will design and implement a campaign to promote French-language services in Ontario with help from the provincial government.

This campaign will promote the delivery of quality services in French by the government and community organizations and also encourage French-speaking Ontarians to request and use these services. Ontario is providing $100,000 for the project.

The Assemblée will set up a working group of representatives from key organizations within Ontario's Francophonie in order to define community needs and develop the approach and objectives of the promotion campaign.

The Office of Francophone Affairs and the Assemblée will unveil the details of the promotion campaign in the fall of 2008.

"This project consolidates the collaboration between the Ontario government and Francophone community organizations, and this benefits the entire community," stated Mariette Carrier-Fraser, President of the Assemblée de la francophonie de l'Ontario.
