Designated AgenciesComplete list of designated agencies SynopsisThe French Language Services Act guarantees the right to receive provincial government services in French from the head office of any ministry, agency, board and commission of the Government and its offices located in 25 designated areas of the province. Agencies that are provincially-funded such as hospitals, children's aid societies and homes for seniors, are not automatically covered by the Act. However, Cabinet may designate them as providers of services in French through a regulation. Once designated, these agencies must provide services in French to the same standards as ministries. To date a total of 209 agencies have been designated under the Act. Some of these agencies are designated to provide all or only part of their services in French. |
