Ontario Receives Annual Report On French Language Services

A report that will help the government build on its commitment to improving French-language services was received today from Ontario's French Language Services Commissioner.
Commissioner François Boileau has made several recommendations in his second Annual Report on French Language Services in Ontario. The recommendations seek to make improvements in the following key areas:
- Justice system (translation of regulations, appointment of judges, training of judges)
- Human resources planning to ensure French language capacity
- Coordination of French-language services
The Office of Francophone Affairs will now work with ministries to review the report and develop responses.

- The Office of the French Language Services Commissioner was created in 2007. It has a mandate, under the French Language Services Act, to conduct independent investigations in response to complaints or on its own initiative; to prepare reports on its investigations; and to monitor the progress made by government agencies in the delivery of French language services in Ontario.
- The Commissioner reports to the Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs.
