McGuinty Government Extends Appointment For Three Years

Ontario is extending the appointment of French Language Services Commissioner, François Boileau, for another three years, starting September 2009. His current two-year appointment ends in August 2009.

The French Language Services Commissioner has a mandate to lead independent investigations under the French Language Services Act, either in response to complaints or on his own initiative. The Commissioner also prepares reports on his investigations and monitors the progress made by government agencies in the delivery of French-language services in Ontario. Since his appointment, the Commissioner released his first Annual Report, tabled on June 17, 2008, and will release a Special Report on health, to be unveiled on Thursday, May 7, 2009.

Mr. Boileau is known for his engaging leadership style and open dialogue with government ministries, employees and the Francophone community.
