Designation of Eight New Transfer Payment Agencies Under the French Language Services Act

The designation process assists the government in ensuring that Francophones have access to government services in French in designated areas of the province. Designation is sought by agencies as a means of confirming that they are able to serve their Francophone clients and stakeholders in their language.
These eight new designations now bring to 209 the number of public service agencies designated under the French Language Services Act:
Canadian Mothercraft of Ottawa-Carleton / L'Agence canadienne Mothercraft d'Ottawa-Carleton, Ottawa
- Partial designation for its Early Years Centre program. The agency provides a wide array of services aimed at children and their parents, as well as at service providers. Examples of programs include drop-in and play groups, a toy lending library and workshops for parents and providers.
Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre / Centre de traitement pour enfants d'Ottawa, Ottawa
- The centre provides comprehensive bilingual ambulatory services to children, youth and certain adults with physical and/or developmental disabilities and their families. Programs serve individuals who require specialized long-term rehabilitation, education, developmental skills building and behaviour management.
Pinecrest-Queensway Health and Community Services / Services de santé et services communautaires Pinecrest-Queensway, Ottawa
- This agency is a community-based, multi-service centre providing health, social, community and children's services with a team of doctors, nurses, counsellors, community health workers, early childhood educators, child and youth workers and others.
City View Centre for Child and Family Services / Centre City View Services pour enfants et familles, Ottawa
- Partial designation for the Nepean-Carleton Ontario Early Years Centre. The services provided by the agency include a toddler, kindergarten and school age program, a toy lending library and a drop-in room.
Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre / Centre de ressources communautaires d'Ottawa Ouest, Ottawa
- Partial designation for its Program Against Women Abuse and Early Years Centre program. This community-based agency provides a wide range of community, health and social services and programs such as bullying prevention, suicide prevention and youth programs to benefit individuals of all ages in the Goulbourn, Kanata and West Carleton area.
Société Alzheimer Society Sudbury-Manitoulin, Sudbury
- A long-term care community service provider, this organization provides a wide range of services to Alzheimer patients and their families, such as an adult day centre, respite care program, support groups, counselling and education.
Early Years Centre North / Centre de la petite enfance du Nord, Nickel Belt
- This agency provides care and education for young children, through a program promoting their healthy physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth. It also provides opportunities for family life education through parent participation in the children's program and other activities. Programs and services provided include: parent/caregiver education; early learning activities, and early literacy.
Centre Victoria pour femmes, Sudbury
- This agency provides crisis intervention and support services for women who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of violence. It also conducts public education activities related to violence prevention. It was one of the first Francophone CALACs (Centres d'aide et de lutte contre les agressions à caractère sexuel/Sexual Assault Centres) established in the province and is one of the organizations providing French-language crisis line services through the provincial line.
